Our History

In 2001, ten women decided to meet after their weekly women’s meeting and continue to network and support each other.  This weekly Saturday meeting evolved into a remarkable circle of SISTAHOOD, that developed a food program, provided money to women for school, childcare swap, educational, professional, and spiritual mentoring and a way socialize with a purpose. All of this was accomplished with the funds from the women’s pocket.

In 2007,  they formed the non-profit organization to further their efforts on a larger scale through networking, community forums, workshops, and social events that provide opportunities for women to reach their greatest level of success for their lives and families. Making the community a much better place for us all.

OUR MISSION: To develop, implement and sponsor encouraging critical dialogues, conferences, and projects devoted to enhancing and improving on the life skills of Black African American women and their families that enhance and improve their life strategies to achieve success.

OUR SERVICES :Recognize the importance of the supportive efforts of the women and men who take  an interest in the wellbeing to ensure that trials are not detrimental to a future.   We acknowledge the challenges teenage girls and women face everyday; a community infested with drug trafficking, gang violence, prostitution and many other negative elements strive daily to combat those ills.   HIP SISTAS provides workshops with a focus on self-esteem, health, higher education, financial education, and life  and communication skills.  Additionally, youth participants are also provided with opportunities to be involved with community services, interact with positive role models and mentoring.  It is the desire of the organization to develop internships by colloborating with other agencies in the community, for specific desired careers, celebrity guests and motivational speakers are also a component of our program innovation.  Donations are accepted and appreciated.
